Trying Target

I tried my hand at Target again last week. I had see something about OLAY deal here & some Aveeno (see here). When I got there I kept looking at my coupons and couldn't seem to match the product. I had $2 off OLAY in shower body wash, soap or body wash and all I was seeing was face cleansers. So I didn't get it. I went home a bit confused.

More confusion: I thought I spotted a great deal on Always Infinity. I was excited and made a special trip just for the 'deal' today. (Also for the OLAY, only to realize it ended on Saturday!) Turns out while the Infinity had signs advertising 'new lower price' they weren't apart of the buy 3 get a $5 GC. I didn't figure this out until I got to the register. A manager was nice enough to check out the signs for me and even offered to bring up the correct products to the register. My coupons were only for the Infinity though. Disappointing. Just not my day Target!

I did do a quick price check on Nivea Body wash. I peaked a head at the CVS ads and there's suppose to be an awesome coupon for it! (See here. They're priced @ $3.04! Now I'm excited.

At least I didn't go home empty handed this time.

Aveeno = Free, Always Infinity = $3.99 - $2/1 Q - $.05 reusable bag = $1.94

My coupons for the Aveeno would have resulted in overage, but the cashier adjusted it down. (Still free Aveeno.) The day shift cashiers seem well trained with the coupon use. I only wish it was more consitant for evenings and weekends. At least my cashier was really nice about adjusting the coupon. As it was only going to save me $.39 she asked it I would like to save it and use it another time. (No I want to get the product free. That was the point this time. LOL.) She also remembered to scan for $.05 off because I brought in a reusable bag. YEA!

Target - Pet Food for Pennies!

I was excited to see there are great deals to be had if you have coupons for GoodLife cat food & Pedigree dog food. I went ahead and order some coupons because it's so good of a deal! Here's hoping there will be stuff on the shelf by the time they get shipped.

Timidly I took a trip earlier this week. I wasn't sure what to get. I've been meaning to pick up the 'free' ibuprofen up&up. (Target Q for $1/1 pain reliever up&up brand.) Twice I had forgotten to look for it. I grabbed that and some GoodLife single serve cat food to see how the Redplum IP would work out. I only got one and knew there would be some overage. Not sure what else to get so I grabbed two single serves.

2 Up&Up Ibuprofen 24 ct @ $.97 each = $1.94
2 GoodLife Cat Food @ $.77 each = $1.54
Total Before Coupons: $3.48

2 $.97/1 Up&Up pain relief (auto adjusted by computer)
$1.50/1 GoodLife Cat Food
Total After Coupons: $.04

After that trip I wanted to use the overage on something else to see how well it would work. I spotted a great deal on Totally Target for Pedigree Dog food. My parent's girls could always use the food. A useful way to help out my parents.

To my surprise when I got there I found A LOT of the GoodLife Cat food on clearance! Some flavors were $.65 each and others $.53 each. W00t! My deal just got better. And thus my hurry to order up those coupons! (Which I don't normally do.) I think I shocked the cashier a little bit with the total. LOL. Wonder what she really thought about it.

3 GoodLife Cat Food @ $.53 each = $1.59
3 Pedigree Dog Food @ $4.00 each = $12.00
Total Before Coupons: $13.59

3 $1.50/1 GoodLife Cat Food (No adjustment!)
3 $3/1 Pedigree Dog Food
Total After Coupons: $.09!

*Dances* Yup. Now that's exciting. ^_^

Target - Second Chance?

A while back (see here) Target was having issues with coupons and I decided not to go back until it was fixed. While it's not fixed as of yet I still needed to buy a few bras because my others are so worn. If I'm going to be there any way why not?

I decided I would try my luck with some coupons and see what happened. I had read about a Jell-o deal on Totally Target. Once again it was not correct. I didn't catch it until I made it home and I'm not wasting my gas for a lousy $.16! I did not notice because I got to excited about free dog food which I saw on Students Saving Bucks. Completely forgot those were in the inserts not that long ago. At least Noel & Dixie will be happy. (Maybe I should get more of those coupons?)

Target Coupon Headache

I stopped at four stores today. My normal Rite Aid was out of the Nivea body wash, but they did get a delivery today. I'm hoping to stop back this afternoon & get more free body wash. If not I'll ask for a rain check.

*Update - I did go back but forget to get a rain check. I grabbed another tube of free after rewards toothpaste. I'm beginning to wonder how anyone makes money on toothpaste?

I tired stopping at a second Rite Aid about 10/15 minutes away. They carry some items my normal Rite Aid doesn't including the Ace wrap at $3.99. Free after in ad coupon on page 8! To bad they didn't have any Nivea either. I was going to get some mouth wash, but as it turns out it was mis-marked on the shelf. I would have gotten the sale price, but no +up rewards. I did make an impulse buy of my favorite gum. Bad Taika! Ah well. $1.29 doesn't hurt anyone. ^_^

First Store:
Colgate Sensitive 6 oz $3.00
Total Before Coupons: $3.00

$1/1 Colgate Sensitive
Total After Coupons: $2.00

Received
$3 +up
Net: $1.00 profit (Manager over ride required because I used +up rewards to make my out of pocket $0!)

Second Store:
Colgate Advance White $3.00
Ace Sport bandage $3.99
Orbit sweet mint $1.29
Total Before Coupons: $8.28

$4/1 Ace Bandage Rite Aid
Total After Coupons: $4.28

Received
$3 +up rewards
Net: $1.28

Total net of both transactions: $.28!

Then to Target! I have no idea what exactly happened. I'm a little bit wary of Target at the moment because I know that it's been doing strange things at the registers with coupons when Target Gift Cards are involved. The transaction started off with a coupon reader. She read each Target coupon to be one per transaction. Okay, it only meant that I was paying $.50 for the two Sobe I had planned on getting free. No biggie. I wanted some more Sobe any way.

This also meant the two bic 10pk of pens, two Wonka bars & two Chef Boyardee's needed to be split into two transactions. Again I'm not going to complain she rang up those three items on a separate receipt. Awesome, glad she wasn't annoyed about ringing two transactions. Problem was she didn't take the second Wonka bar off the first receipt and the $1.00 off Wonka Manufacture coupon took off only $.06?!? I knew my total couldn't possibly be correct at almost $9, should have been only about $6.

The cashier and manager were trying to get a refund on the Wonka bar, but it kept coming up at $2.06 to be refunded instead of $2.29. So where did those $.23 go? Not a clue. The had me go to customer service to get it taken care of. The guy there was really nice. He refunded me $2.06 (it's taken me to long already to fight over $.23) and gave me $1.00 for the coupon missed scan. All in all I was only shorted $.17, but I'm not going to fight tooth & nail for that. I've dealt with customers who are infuriated if the price is a penny off. Really? A penny? Here have a penny from my pocket. Gees . . . I know pennies add up, but it strikes me as petty.

Transaction One (As the receipt Shows)
2 Wonka choclate bars @ 2.29 each = $4.58
2 Sobe @ $1.00 each = $2.00
Chef Boyardee $.99

Transaction Three (correction time)
-$2.06 for extra Wonka bar charge
-$1.00 for coupon scanning incorrectly
Net: $3.06 back in cash

Total of all three transactions: $1.18 (Close enough for me.)

Last stop was Weis. I had stopped in only for Dole Monte ready to blend fruit smoothie. These were on sale for $1. I printed a coupon last time the went on sale a few weeks ago, but couldn't find it so I went on my merry way home. I'm glad I held on to the coupon as it netted my two free today. Just in times as they expire on the 30th. I ended up picking up Digiorno pizza for one. This was a freebie coupon I got through face book that expires at the end of the month. Target didn't have them & since I spotted them at Weis I decided to pick it up. Too bad they only had pepperoni in the deep dish. That just means my Sweetheart gets to enjoy it. (I don't eat pork products.)

Free! Enough said.

Target & CVS Freebies

A while back I was luck enough to get a catalina coupon at Target for $5 off a $20 purchase of frozen food items. I read about a deal on Bertolli, buy 3 @ $5.89 get a $5 GC. I was already planning to go back and get more Eggo waffles & pancakes, so getting 3 of those meals would bring it up the purchase just above $20! I also had a coupon for $1.50 off one. (Unfortunately that's all I had.) So . . .

5.89 * 3 = $17.67
$17.67 - $5 (coupon) - $5 GC - $1.5 (coupon) = $6.17
$7.67/3 = $2.05 (and $.02 split 3 ways)

Not a bad price for those meals. The Eggo waffles & pancakes ended up being $.75 each. Good deal for Target. I actually did this on Wednesday, but haven't had time 'til now to post anything about it. I worked all weekend . . . luckily I have today as an extra day off.

Saturday at CVS they finally had the Olay body wash back in stock along with the ivory soap. I had gotten a rain check from a previous week when it was buy $27 of Olay 7 Effects body wash or moisturizer. Opting for 4 body wash made for some cheap soap & body wash.

Ready . . . Aim . . . Target! Miss & Hit

I was so excited for the Sobe deal last week. I remember trying Sobe once a long time ago when my brother was really into buying it. I didn't like it then, but I think it was just the flavor. I've wanted to try them since, but I'm not big on spending money just to try something when I know I am perfectly content without said item.

I headed to Target on Wednesday, Sobe coupons in hand. Found an end display of them up by the check out. Picked out a variety of flavors and proceeded to the check out line. To bad I didn't read my BOGO Sobe coupons I had gotten from their website a while back when all you had to do was click on a link. The cashier I got apparently had seen these before and they read once per purchase. MISS! Ack! The BOGO coupons from the Head Or Tails Game do not have that restriction. I should have read them more carefully.

Target was also still out of Clean & Clear Finishes cleanser, no price cut on the Aveeno Body wash (although I understand that's no longer being found anywhere). I did however find the scrubbing bubbles drop ins. The cashier that I had didn't seem to happy about me getting them free. She kept looking at the manufacture coupon and the target coupon. I think she didn't refuse the sale only because a manager was standing right there.

Saturday at Target was better. I managed to get my Sobe deal & they had the Clean & Clear Finishes cleanser in stock! (Only two of them, so I have on coupon left yet. I will look for it the next time I'm in.) So Saturday's transaction looked like this:

10 Sobe 20oz @ $1.00 each = $10.00
2 Clean & Clear Finishes @ $2.00 each = $4.00
Total Before Coupons: $14.00

5 BOGO Sobe @ $1.00 each = $5.00
-Saturday's cashier didn't even look twice at my coupons. Huh?
2 $2/1 Clean & Clear product = $4.00
4 $.50/1 Sobe Target Coupon = $2.00
$.05 used a reusable bag!

Total After Coupons: $2.95

Received:
$5 Target gift card for purchase of 10 Sobe
Net: $2.05 profit

HIT!

Shopping Trips!

More shopping trips! I love shopping when I can get great deals. The only time I really hate shopping is when I go to buy clothing. I loathe clothes shopping. *gerr* Any who . . . Here are some deals I picked up this past week and on Sunday. I’m a bit disorganized as I worked all weekend, so I seem to be missing a receipt. This is not good in that it had some Kraft items on it I would have used for a rebate. *sighs*

These were outside my door before I even went shopping on Friday. Saturday I received a sample pack from Always "Being A Girl" website.

The grand total was just under $10 with coupons from Giant. I also received a $3.00 off your next order for the purchase of the scrubbing bubbles spray. This is the one with missing receipt. Where did it go?

I managed to score the 100 calorie pack deal again from target. Also received a $5 gift card. Total came to $6.18. ($1.18 if you take out the gift card.) Not to shabby.

My standard CVS trip. The shampoo is actually a CVS brand, even though it doesn't say that. I used a $1.00/1 CVS hair care to get it free. The lip gloss & deoderant were free after coupons and extra bucks.

Always Check Your Reciept!

Yesterday was a reminder to myself to always watch the price as an item get rung up. it was just a small filler grocery visit of orange juice, bread and fresh fruit. While there I always check the price of a few items, because not every sale at the grocery store is advertised.

One of my favorite kind of hot dogs if Hebrew National. They're so good! Unfortunately they are also on the expensive side, $4.99/7 hot dogs. YIKES! According to the tag they were on sale for $3. At the register it rings up at $3.99. My sweetheart runs to double check and be sure we didn't make a mistake and then we have a confused clerk looking through the sale flier only to see several other brands of hot dogs on sale. (Unadvertised sale!) Another clerk (a supervisor perhaps?) runs back to check on it. We were correct in reading the price tag and because it rang up incorrectly we got it free. SCORE! A favorite item for FREE! It pays to keep a close eye on the register screen as you get rung up. ^_^

A stop at Weis markets made a good deal for Wacky Mac pasta. I like the name and the colorful noodles. A 10/$10 sale is awesome when paired up with 2 $.50/1 and 2 $1/2 coupons. Six bags of pasta for $2! Sweet!

My trip to target was not nearly as fruitful. Jergens has a $2/1 coupon at coupons.com. There is a short form to fill out (it's listed as an offer). The coupon does not specify any size restrictions. This usually means you can get a trail size for free. They don't have it. *growls* They also didn't have Kraft Homestyle deluxe Macaroni & Cheese Dinner, which I got a manufactures coupon from Kraft's First Taste. Nor did they have Kraft's 100 calorie cheese packs.

I am happy to say they did have some other items I was looking for. In my transaction I bought:

4 Nabisco 100 calorie pack cookies $10.16 (4 different kinds, $2.54 each)
Bic 7 count pens $.99 (found a bonus size)
Kraft Mayo w/ Olive Oil 12oz $2.64
Total Before Coupons: $13.79

2 coupons Nabisco BOGO $5.08 (via facebook for liking their product, $2.54 each)
Coupon Target Free 100 calorie pack wby 3 $2.54 (Target.com)
Coupon Kraft Mayo w/ Olive Oil Free $2.64 (Kraft's First Taste)
Coupon Bic stationary product $1.00 (Bic.com)
Coupon Target Reusable bag $.05 (just bring in a reusable bag, first time I've done this one)
Total After Coupons: $2.48 (Good deal.)
