Drug Store Hopping
It's like bar hopping, only with drug stores. Well, almost drug store hopping. I think I need to go to three different drug stores to make it a true hopping trip. I did get in three trips between Saturday & Monday.
Saturday was a last minute trip to Rite Aid to get more free toothpaste & Motrin PM. Literally, my sweetheart & I were told they were closing in just a few minutes. Quick! Grab the two free after coupons & +up rewards and a pack of gum to cover the overage!

Colgate Pro Clinical cleaning 4.0oz $2.99
Motrin PM 20 ct $3.00
Orbit Sweet Mint Gum $1.29
Total Before Coupons:$7.28
$1/1 Motrin PM 20ct or larger
$1/1 Colgate Clinical Toothpaste
Total After Coupons: $5.28
Received:
$2.00 +up rewards Colgate
$3.00 +up rewards Motrin
Net: $.28 (This also happens to be my Out Of Pocket as I used +up rewards from earlier in the week.)
Sunday's Trip to CVS was in two transactions. (All in one picture)
4 Aveeno hair care products @ $6.49 each = $25.96
Total Before Coupons: $25.96
4 $1.50/1 Aveeno = $6.00
Total After Coupons: $19.96
Received (will receive):
$10 EB for purchasing $25 of Aveeno products
$10 MIR for purchasing $25 of Aveeno products

Net: FREE! Well there's tax to, but I don't generally worry about it much. As an added bonus, the shampoos came with sample size body wash & the conditioner with some kind of leave in treatment. ^_^
2 Stayfree 16ct @ $3.69/2 (BOGO sale!) = $3.69
2 HP Black Ink @ $19.99 each = $39.98
Total: $43.67
$3.69/1 BOGO Stayfree Coupon
Total After Coupons: $39.98
Received:
$10 EB wyb 2 HP ink
Net: $29.98 - $.25 green bag tag scan
It's not really the best deal on ink, but I did have a lot of extra bucks to use up & I'm running low on ink. I hoping eventually I will be able to figure out to get ink at a lower cost. I think of the ink as in investment into my savings. Those mail in rebates & internet coupons don't come out of think air! (Although I could print them at my one job, but somehow I don't think the boss would like that too much.)
Rite Aid Monday! (Normal Rite Aid shopping day it seems)
4 Root Awakening shampoo/conditioner @ $5.00 each = $20.00
Crest Sensitive Shield Enamel 4.0oz $3.99
Old Spice High Endurance Fresh 3.0oz $1.99
Total Before Coupons: $25.98

4 $3/1 Root Awakening = $12
Rite Aid $1 off $10 hair purchase
$1/1 Crest Toothpaste 4.0oz or larger
Rite Aid $5 off a $25 purchase
Total After Coupons: $6.98
Received/will receive:
$10 +up rewards Root Awakening (John Frieda collection)
$2.99 SCR
Net: $7.01, this could have been $1.00 higher if I had not bought the Old spice & instead used a $5.00 of of $20. I'll save that coupon for latter when there are not as many good deals. (Or perhaps I can get more coupons to do this deal again?) This weekends favorite place is Rite Aid! After shopping at just CVS for so long I almost feel bad. *ROFL*
This was also the first time I used coupons from I paid to to be "clipped". I only had two coupons for the Root Awakening. I decided to try getting coupons from a clipping service to figure out if it was worth the trouble. Now I can see that it clearly is. I will need to do stuff like this more often. ^_^
Next Up: A recap of my OLAY rebate adventure . . . Let's see how well I managed. Did I really get it free after all the deals?

Ready . . . Aim . . . Target! Miss & Hit
I was so excited for the Sobe deal last week. I remember trying Sobe once a long time ago when my brother was really into buying it. I didn't like it then, but I think it was just the flavor. I've wanted to try them since, but I'm not big on spending money just to try something when I know I am perfectly content without said item.
I headed to Target on Wednesday, Sobe coupons in hand. Found an end display of them up by the check out. Picked out a variety of flavors and proceeded to the check out line. To bad I didn't read my BOGO Sobe coupons I had gotten from their website a while back when all you had to do was click on a link. The cashier I got apparently had seen these before and they read once per purchase. MISS! Ack! The BOGO coupons from the Head Or Tails Game do not have that restriction. I should have read them more carefully.

Target was also still out of Clean & Clear Finishes cleanser, no price cut on the Aveeno Body wash (although I understand that's no longer being found anywhere). I did however find the scrubbing bubbles drop ins. The cashier that I had didn't seem to happy about me getting them free. She kept looking at the manufacture coupon and the target coupon. I think she didn't refuse the sale only because a manager was standing right there.
Saturday at Target was better. I managed to get my Sobe deal & they had the Clean & Clear Finishes cleanser in stock! (Only two of them, so I have on coupon left yet. I will look for it the next time I'm in.) So Saturday's transaction looked like this:
10 Sobe 20oz @ $1.00 each = $10.00
2 Clean & Clear Finishes @ $2.00 each = $4.00
Total Before Coupons: $14.00
5 BOGO Sobe @ $1.00 each = $5.00
-Saturday's cashier didn't even look twice at my coupons. Huh?
2 $2/1 Clean & Clear product = $4.00
4 $.50/1 Sobe Target Coupon = $2.00
$.05 used a reusable bag!
Total After Coupons: $2.95
Received:
$5 Target gift card for purchase of 10 Sobe
Net: $2.05 profit

HIT!

Balancing Budget
Sometimes I'm not super careful about my budget. It ends up getting away from me. This time it ran away on me for several reasons:
1. There was holiday money on my second paycheck of the month.
2. The second paycheck was also the beginning of my health insurance through work.
3. I wanted extra money around to do the OLAY rebate.
4. My boss finally gave me my raise and back dated it, but gave extra on my third paycheck.
Okay . . . Now I know what my normal pay check looks like (about 10-15 over my budgeted!) I can actually go back to a stricter budget. Normally money overage doesn't bother me, but with the OLAY rebate it got a little out of hand. I brought back everything to zero. At least I didn't over spend. (That usually happens about once or twice a year.)
The solution for the rebate problem is to start a rebate envelope. As I begin to get some of this money back I will cash the checks and put it into an envelope. I think I want to start one for CVS & Rite Aid as well. This way I don't over spend. While I may have "money makers" CVS at least doesn't actually give me back cash. Somewhere along the line I do spend money at CVS, weather it's Soda or my favorite shampoo (Biolage is expensive!) I will spend some money.
Now to decide what exactly to set aside . . . I would like to keep taking my extra money and use it to fix the car and pay of loans, but I should have something for the drug store trips and target may well end up on this list.

Eyes Peeled for Peelies!
Yesterday I took a trip to CVS and I found some good peelies. I only went in to buy free toothpaste for myself and pick up a letter filer for my mom. She wants the letter filer to start storing her coupons. Dad has a tendency to pick them up and throw them in the trash. Oops! (No picture of purchase as it already went to mostly to mom.)
First the 45oz powder cascade is on sale for $2.99. On the boxes with the older art were $2 peelies making them $.99 each. My store didn't have many of these left. The guy before me in fact grabbed about 4 or 5 of them! I managed to snag the last two. When the employees looked in the back they found boxes with a new design, but no peelies. I don't have a dishwasher, but my parents do! I took a picture, but accidentally deleted it from my phone instead of moving it to the memory card. :( I was tired.
The second find was a peelie for a $15 prepaid gift card for reviewing the new Curel lotion. Normally I wouldn't have even looked at body lotion. It was in one of those gray totes a girl was stocking from all by itself. I picked one up, turned it over and there it was. It's a new item not even on there regular shelf yet. A quick run to the price checker told me it was $7.99. SOLD! I'll review it with my mom in a few days. Her hands, elbows and feet can get kind of dry. She's also very sensitive to chemicals and smells. I figure we would make a great review team.
So CVS transaction gets summed up as the following:
2 Cascade powder 45oz @ $2.99 = $5.98
Curel Ultra Healing lotion $7.99
Letter Filer $8.99
Colgate 4oz toothpaste $2.99
Total Before Coupons: $25.95
2 $2/1 Cascade peelies
$1/1 Curel Ultra Healing lotion
$1.50/1 Colgate CVS crt
$.35/1 Colgate (I read about $1/1 coupons not that I found any)
$4/20 CVS crt (3 days only!)
Total After Coupons: $15.10
Received:
$2.00 EB for Colgate purchase
$2.00 EB for signing up for the diabetic program (Oh! That's nice.)
Net: $11.10 ~forgot green bag tag scan :(
If mom & qualify for the $15 this will become a $3.90 profit. Sweet. ^_^

Coupon Thieves
Last week I didn't get any coupons from the city paper because I had to open. This week I had to start work at 7am, and I was staying over at my parents the night before. (They live closer to where I work than I do, by about 45 minutes!) There was no way I was going to get the papers before they were either gone or didn't have any inserts.
My sweetheart was kind enough to follow my instructions and pick up two city papers and one local paper. He 'checked' them for coupons and believed they were there. Too bad he was confused and thought store inserts = coupons. I think it's kind of funny. I'm not exactly sure how one would get them confused, but he really isn't into couponing. The local paper did have inserts, but the the city paper didn't. I had thought perhaps they just didn't put inserts into all the papers. After seeing the bits of insert in one paper (in the picture below) I now know there are coupon thieves! (Or at least a thief.) *sighs* Not happy!

I wasn't feeling to good yesterday and so my normal trip to CVS didn't happen. Feeling better today I headed off to rite aid. This trip was done in two transactions. I think the photo tech guy was annoyed. He didn't seem so cheerful to ring me up. I've had mixed experiences with personal there. Some are wonderfully nice and others are stuck up or irritable. One manager is very nice and complemented my singing, although she thought it was another lady there at first. (Yes, I sing aloud in the stores to the music they play.) The other manager appears to either be glaring at everything or in a bad mood. One cashier scrutinizes every coupon and two others are very patient with coupons. If only I could figure out when the nice ones are working. Ah well.
Transaction 1:
Motrin PM 20ct $3.00
Colgate Clinical Toothpaste $2.99
Total Before Coupons: $5.99
$2.00/1 Motrin PM (I can't find the $3 one I've heard about, this was from a tear pad in CVS when it first came out.)
$1.00/1 Colgate Clinical
Total After Coupons: $2.99
Received:
$2.00 +up rewards Colgate
$3.00 +up rewards Motrin
Net: $2.00 profit

Transaction 2:
Motrin PM 20ct $3.00
Colgate Clinical Toothpaste $2.99
OLAY Foaming Cleanser $10.49
Total Before Coupons: $16.48
$2.00/1 Motrin PM (I only pulled two of these. I don't think I can get them any more)
$1.00/1 Colgate Clinical
$1.00/1 OLAY moisturizer or cleanser
Total After Coupons: $12.48
Received:
$2.00 +up rewards Colgate
$3.00 +up rewards Motrin
Net: $7.48
Net of two Transactions: $5.48
Hopefully this is the last of the OLAY I need to buy to get the Gift Card for the $50.00 skin rebate from Rite Aid. I know that I don't need any more OLAY for the manufacture rebate. I just want it the clear and then I will send away for it. I will need to go through the blog to round up my totals for this rebate over all. I just hope I didn't do to badly.
